Jousia Piha

ICT Engineer with a Creative Edge | Expert in AI and Cybersecurity

About

My name is Jousia Piha. I am a telecommunications engineer oriented toward artificial intelligence research and the craft of cybersecurity. I work with large language models at the University of Turku within the TurkuNLP research group. My specialization lies in evaluating the Finnish-language performance of experimental large language models. I am likewise interested in the content safety and technical security challenges of systems that employ such models. I was originally trained as a telecommunications engineer and, before that, as a copywriter for the advertising industry, which has left me a rather versatile practitioner of technology and communications. In addition to the general academic wandering and wondering, I am capable, for example, of applying AI, producing publishable texts and websites, installing and maintaining servers for various purposes, or even cabling and setting up a secure local network with its devices from the ground up. The most important of my leisure pursuits is undoubtedly server administration in my “home lab,” where I also experiment with generative AI. I engage in 3D modeling with Blender and Fusion and print my creations with my own Bambu Lab X1C 3D printer. More ancient but still dear hobbies of mine are drawing and writing fiction. I extend my welcome to all kindred spirits in information technology, to recruiters, and to the merely curious who wish to acquaint themselves with my work.
